MINIMUM Requirements (must ALL be met):

  • Floats between Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Jefferson Hospital Neuroscience (Distance: 1 block)
  • Two years of recent and relevant ICU/Critical Care experience
  • Ability to float to all ICU/Critical Care Units
  • Ability to float to all Intermediate/Step Down AND Medical Surgical Telemetry Units as needed REQUIRED
  • Proof of an adult critical care course (completion certificate, transcript, or CCRN)
  • BSN
  • Current PA nursing license
  • Current BLS and ACLS
  • Part Time 48-hour bi-weekly position
  • Every third weekend required
  • Placed on a rotating holiday track

For over 2 years we have integrated Full Time, Permanent, and Benefit Eligible Float Nurses into the hospital to cover increased census, Family Medical Leave of Absence, and staffing shortages. Full Time Float RNs are offered a flexible, self-selected schedule that should work with anyone's lifestyle. We also offer a premium rate for our Full Time Float RNs.

In addition to all the same benefits as a full time, benefit eligible employees (including Retirement Plan, Tuition Reimbursement, and Earned Time Off) employees of the Full Time Float positions have the opportunity to explore other units daily. If you find a unit that you can see as a permanent unit for yourself, you are eligible for transfer after 6 months. As you float throughout our locations, you will network and make connections to gain lasting relationships and professional opportunities.

RN, Hospital Float Staff

As a RN for the Hospital PART TIME Float, you are hired for the Center City Hospitals: Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience (Distance: 1 block). You would submit your schedule every 4-6 weeks through our self-scheduling application. This is for the Night Shift.


Your compensation is a competitive hourly rate based on years of experience PLUS an additional 8% premium per hour. Will also receive shift differential where applicable.

Conditions of Employment

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.

Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
