Ballard Spahr LLP has an exciting opportunity for a Practice Management Administrator to collaborate with and support our Litigation department's Director of Practice Management with the daily business operations of the department and its practice groups across 15 offices. Responsibilities include managing personnel matters; new matter approval and management, policy enforcement; revenue collection; budgeting and expense management; integration of lawyers; and implementation of core training programs.

Primary financial management responsibilities include overseeing monthly metrics to track productivity of lawyers and practice groups, assisting with the review of aged receivables and unbilled time, managing new matter intake, reviewing and approving expenses and assisting with the annual budgeting process. Personnel responsibilities include maintaining the department staffing update and roster; coordinating the orientation and integration of new lawyers; the transition of departing lawyers; leaves of absence and secondment requests; and coordination of departmental training and mentoring programs. Administrative responsibilities include compiling meeting materials; calendar scheduling; participating in client, departmental and firm sponsored events and serving as a valued resource for Litigation department matters.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, problem solving skills, and the ability to multitask and work in a deadline driven environment. Professional demeanor, good judgment, understanding of the need to exercise confidentially and discretion required.

Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services environment. Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in the firm's computer applications and have experience with process management. Flexibility to work beyond a standard business day, on occasion as needed.
