POSITION SUMMARY: SEAMAAC’s Truancy Case Management (TCM) program works in partnership with

Philadelphia’s Office of Children and Families (OCF) and the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) to improve school attendance and academic achievement through three tiers of services. Services focus on early interventions and case management with about 1,500 annual referrals of at-risk children, youth and their families. Although our TCM Program serves communities of all races and ethnicities, the majority of referrals we receive from SDP and DHS are for children and families from the African American community. The Supervisor will conduct individual and group supervision sessions that occurs up to four times each month with a cohort of seven Truancy Case Managers (CM). Supervision requirements will also involve file audits, documentation and database reviews, project management, data management on case assignments, and case coverage for all three tiers of services. The Supervisor will facilitate in-house professional development such as case note writing and home visit assessment skills. The Supervisor will participate in quality assurance that include efforts to call clients and accompany CMs to home visits. The Supervisor will support recruitment and hiring efforts, train and on-board new hires, and monitor staff performance. Expectations include developing a mastery of the TCM program procedures and policies to perform all three tiers of services and OCF initiatives at any time.

Supervisors work in a fast-pace and high-pressure environment, handling multiple and simultaneous priorities, balancing the requirements from funders and adherence to strict deadlines. The program goals are to resolve truancy issues and facilitate families’ ability to develop positive relationships that promote well-being and permanency of children in the home and school environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additionally, the Supervisor candidate must have:

• Master’s degree in Social Work or related field (i.e. related fields are social services, sociology, psychology, theology, education, criminal justice, human services, and public administration).

• Minimum two years of specific social service experience.

• Minimum of two to three years of supervisory and administrative experience preferable.

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, effective presentation skills on program initiatives, and advanced computer skills in data entry and database management.

• Outstanding discipline, organization, and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Willingness to adapt to change. Intuitive systems thinking and approach.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse staff with a strong commitment to supporting a team environment.
