Job Description Summary

The Office of Communications leads the strategic planning and tactical execution of the Law School's internal and external communications. With a sophisticated message detailing the School's distinct strengths, Communications focuses on a consistent representation across digital strategy and print production, with services ranging from video and editorial content creation to photography, graphic design, event promotion, public relations, marketing, and social media management.

The Senior Content Strategist serves as the lead writer responsible for developing and executing critical communications for the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School to support internal and external communications in accordance with the Law School's strategic priorities.

Job Description

Responsibilities :

Monitor and execute content strategy for the Law School and its programs.

+ Align Penn Carey Law's editorial voice with strategic priorities, and determine content needs, channel selection, and distribution. Monitor and execute content strategy for the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School Law and its programs and p roduce executive communications including but not limited to speeches, statements, email announcements, remarks, print publications, briefings, reports, press releases, op-eds, high-level correspondence, and website content on behalf of the Dean and senior leadership of Penn Carey Law, targeting both internal and external audiences.

+ Work as a highly collaborative, regularly contributing member of the editorial team, providing creative and critical input on projects. Act as a strategic brand consultant, exercising expert editorial judgment and implementing content strategy to deliver strong and cohesive messaging.

+ Follow trends and developments in legal education, develop talking points on emerging issues.

+ Attend Law School faculty ad hoc meetings and Law School events. Initiate and maintain relationships with key contacts across the University.

+ Facilitate cross-functional Content Collaborator meeting, providing a strategy session to internal stakeholders to continually improve internal communications and drive collaboration/successful execution of core marketing and communications objectives.

+ Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


+ A Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; a JD or related advanced degree preferred.

+ Must possess exceptional writing skills and have proven experience communicating effectively, conveying complex or technical subject matter in clear, engaging, and concise language.

+ Minimum of seven years of professional writing experience, proven success writing in a legal, policy, higher education, or related professional context.

+ Experience collaborating directly with senior-level administrators or executives.

+ Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a service-oriented environment, as well as managing projects independently according to firm deadlines.

+ A sense of humor while working in a fast-paced environment is a plus.

+ Deadline driven individual, with outstanding communication and organizational skills and a high attention to detail.

+ Track record of amplifying messaging with a portfolio of work that demonstrates knowledge of legal landscape.
