Takeda is advancing an exciting pipeline and wants to ensure that we have the infrastructure and talent in place to support it. Our overall goal is to ensure that we get our therapeutics to patients quickly by having the right operational model and integrated clinical data pipeline to support delivery.
The Head of Trial Data Technology is responsible for leading the platforms, integrations, and technical operations of R&Ds clinical trial data program. The data program will include an integrated data flow with end-to end control of data, will be foundationally capable of enabling a high-degree of automation and near-time data access and will readily incorporate disruptive technologies that enables next-gen trial designs and insights. The data program will encompass all systems, platforms, architecture, and tools involved in the collection, processing, review and analysis of clinical trial patient and operational data, including high-dimensional data such as genomic, digital health and real world data.
DELIVERY & BUSINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
The Head of Trial Data Technology is expected to:
Lead all technology- and platform-related aspects of the global data program to support Takeda R&Ds vision to create a development engine and ecosystem that provides optimal clinical data control and quality in a predictable, automated & cost-effective way
Lead the evolution of Takedas infrastructure to meet current and future R&D needs while maintaining appropriate congruency with Takedas enterprise data strategy and backbone
Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of data program architecture diagrams including application, integration, deployment, dev ops and data
Develop technical strategy and processes to manage an ever-expanding data infrastructure and ETL pipelines
Oversee all platform and systems integrations
Leads team of architects and engineers to develop and automate large scale, high-performance data storage and processing systems, with connection to experimentation and machine learning infrastructure
Oversee operational team of data engineers responsible for moving data through data pipeline
Provide strategic vision for long-term delivery innovation
CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE
Strategic Planning and Execution
Leads in all technical design and implementation aspects of R&D global data program
Reports on progress of projects, issues/plans, and critical path schedules to executive leadership
Visibly engages across the organization to ensure transformational impact
Resource and Issue Management
Manages internal and external resources (people, information, technologies, time, and capital); allocates project resources appropriately to align with business imperatives.
Proactively identifies project issues before they arise and develops contingency plans; communicates project-related issues to senior executive management and manages issues to resolution.
Matrix Team Management
Provides matrix management, strategic and tactical leadership across data program.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
PhD with 12-15+ years experience or MS with 15-18+ years experience in IT with previous experience leading a medium to large organization and influencing senior-level management
10+ years experience in pharmaceutical industry
5+ years experience directly managing data engineering or software engineering teams who support scalable production systems.
Track record of successful leadership, management, and development of large, multi-disciplinary technical teams on medium/large scale data infrastructure projects
Deep knowledge of SQL and relational databases
Experience building/maintaining ETL pipelines
Experience with modern data technologies/stack such as Airflow, Kubeflow, Redshift, Snowflake, SQL, AWS, Docker, BigQuery, Python, Git, etc.
Experience in machine learning workload and AI powered products
Passionate to keep up with the industry trends and approaches to solve technical problems
