Diffusion Labs is a new capability and center for CSL, responsible for exploring breakthrough opportunities made possible by advances in digitization, information, and technology. These opportunities have a multi-year time horizon with the potential for extraordinary and differentiating returns for our business. Focus areas include guiding donors and patients through the complexity of care, differentiating our therapies through evidence and technology, connecting with innovators and scientific leaders on finding new cures, and mobilizing the digital enterprise.
The Horizon 3 Index leader will focus on our stretch goal for digital transformation of digital differentiation of novel therapies, vaccines, and donor services. Our quest is to go digital by design enabling us to extend the enterprise towards patient engagement, clinical decision support, real world evidence, and external innovation networks. Diffusion labs will be a user-centric practice, and all practice leads will be expected to establish a deep empathy for our patients and our internal users in order to anchor to the largest problem spaces facing our company. This role will oversee a disciplined portfolio of experimentation to accelerate our journey enabling prudent use of our limited resources. and will work collaboratively with leaders in Digital Experiences, Insights and Analytics, Information, and Technology.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Manage the opportunity funnel and the agenda for horizon three initiatives, a portfolio of digital technology capabilities focused on long-term growth options for the corporation. Balance an understanding of patients (and our company’s) problem spaces with a long-term vision to fuel investment decisions. Examples could include clinical decision support and simulation of human physiology.
Provide thought leadership in digital futures in order to guide and fuel technology ventures across Diffusion Labs. Deep partnership will be required with other practice leads to prototype ideas and scale the ideas that gain traction.
Draw direct accountability to CDIO, CFO, Global Leadership Group Sponsors, and the Digital Advisory Board.
Manage the book of business (investments, stakeholders, and probabilities) associated with the Horizon 3 portfolio
Manage a network for technology research collaborations, focused on specific breakthrough opportunities.
Create and own the Venture capital model (what do we invest in, and how do we go the extra mile to make it successful)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; education preferably concentrated in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Decision Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
8+ years' relevant IT experience including specific experience in product management, human computer interaction, interactive design, and complex systems
3+ years' managerial experience and/or demonstrated leadership experience
Experience managing IT projects at the intersection of innovative technology advancements and the business within a global environment
Comfort collaborating with executives at the CXO level internally and externally
Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable
Demonstrated ability to influence at all organizational levels through clear, concise, and impactful verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build, mentor and grow a high performing and cohesive team
Adaptable to handle a fast-paced working environment
Exceptional listener and collaborator
Ability to work across a range of countries and cultures.
